The Starooskolsky plant of electrical equipment for cars and tractors named after VI BEN. Mamonov, operating as JSC SOATE, has announced a significant increase in the annual output of gearbox components destined for AVTOVAZ products. The facility, which previously operated in the Belgorod region, now plans to raise its yearly production from 120 thousand sets to 280 thousand sets. The decision to scale up stems from strategic investments and a commitment to domestic manufacturing that reduces dependence on foreign suppliers. This update comes as part of a broader push to strengthen Russia’s automotive supply chain and support local production capabilities. Source: SOATE press service.
The project received more than 390 million rubles in funding, including a soft loan totaling 300 million rubles provided by the Industrial Development Fund. This financial support was instrumental in enabling the plant to upgrade its equipment, expand its capacity, and accelerate the transition to in-country production. By leveraging these resources, SOATE aims to improve efficiency while maintaining competitive pricing and high standards of quality. Source: SOATE press service.

“With the FRP project, we now have the capacity to produce all mechanically processed parts through injection molding, with weights up to 3 kilograms. This development has allowed us to centralize the production of gearbox components that were previously imported. The expansion also created 21 highly productive workplaces”, stated Vladimir Boev, Managing Director of SOATE JSC. This modernization aligns with the plant’s goal of boosting captive manufacturing capacity and reducing supply chain fragility in the automotive sector. Source: SOATE press service.
As a result of the productivity uplift, imports of these gearbox parts have largely been replaced by domestic production. Previously, about half of such components were sourced from abroad, mainly from European suppliers. Today, both the components and the raw materials used to manufacture them are sourced domestically, with product quality meeting international standards and prices remaining competitive. This shift demonstrates the plant’s ability to deliver reliable, cost-effective parts while strengthening Russia’s ailing automotive ecosystem. Source: SOATE press service.
