St. Petersburg Nissan Plant: Jobs Protected and New Production Plans
There is no plan to reduce or lay off workers at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, according to the regional government. The workforce will be kept on and redirected to new projects that AVTOVAZ will execute in the coming year.
Officials emphasized that the collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and AvtoVAZ centers on safeguarding the interests of staff. The commitment is to maintain the existing social guarantees and to ensure that the two thousand employees retain their jobs and benefits through the transition.
Previously announced plans indicated that AvtoVAZ would restart production at the Nissan facility in the second half of the year. The site is expected to manufacture Chinese-branded vehicles, but under the Lada brand name, integrating new models with local production capabilities.
