The crash occurred near the intersection of Savushkina and Touristskaya streets. Based on footage circulating online, a black Mercedes-Benz van struck the taxi from the side as the taxi attempted to pass through the junction. The impact sent the taxi onto the roadway, while the minibus veered onto the sidewalk and vaulted over a barrier, coming to rest against a fence. Several passengers were inside the taxi at the moment of impact, including a nine-year-old boy who, not wearing a seat belt, was ejected through the side window onto the road. The child suffered serious injuries, and his grandmother also sustained injuries in the collision.

Earlier coverage noted another incident in Ussuriysk where an SUV collided with a pedestrian before the vehicle went off a bridge and into the water below. Authorities are reviewing details of that occurrence to determine exact causes and subsequent actions to improve roadway safety.
