The taxi aggregator Bibi is set to be led by Anatoly Smorgonsky, known for his role heading the Gett taxi service, who recently left Russia, and by the founder of RuMarket, an Android app store, Anatoly Smorgonsky, according to TASS reporting. Smorgonsky’s public career spans multiple high-profile positions, including CEO roles at Yota and senior leadership at VimpelCom, where he contributed to brands operating in Russia such as Beeline, Rostelecom, and Tele2.
According to the new company’s press service, Smorgonsky will become a shareholder and take the helm of Bibi for the Russian market, steering its growth strategy there.
Bibi plans to concentrate on the B2B sector and aims to acquire a stake in Gett. The core leadership for the new aggregator will largely come from Gett’s Russian division, which exited Russia earlier in June and has since placed its teams with this new venture.
Investment for the new service has come from local backers, with international funding also reported. Sources indicate funding from Chinese investors.
The service is envisioned to handle non-standard tasks, including renting a premium car with a driver. While Bibi’s primary focus is on B2B collaborations with companies, the plan also includes expanding B2C services for individual riders and pursuing opportunities in international markets. In the initial phase, the emphasis will be on major Russian cities, particularly Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Existing users can already download the Bibi app from the App Store and Google Play, enabling ride bookings and trip tracking. The platform aims to streamline corporate transportation while offering convenient options for everyday travelers alike.
