A fresh Chinese automaker, Skywell, makes its entry into the Russian market, though the company’s press materials in Russia keep a low-key stance about any cosmological connections. Yet the brand’s presence is clear and growing. Skywell introduced its first BEO model, the ET5 electric crossover, back in 2020, and today its crossovers are available in forty two countries across multiple continents, including Canada, the United States, South Korea, Croatia, Germany, Spain and Israel. This expansion highlights Skywell’s commitment to electrified mobility on a global scale and signals a robust global supply chain ready to support growth in new regions.
The ET5, which remains the flagship model, will also be offered in Russia. The announced expansion pace is notable: representatives indicate the car will reach official dealer showrooms within about a month. In the initial year, the plan is to establish a network of about thirty dealers across major Russian cities such as Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kazan, and Krasnodar, among others. A Russian representative office has already opened in the capital, and the brand’s official website is active and accessible.
Speaking about the broader government support, Skywell notes that under the federal program Electric car and hydrogen car a number of cities will gain access to fast charging stations for electric vehicles funded by the federal budget. In its first twelve months, Skywell aims to sell more than three thousand flagship ET5 crossovers and the new HT-i hybrid crossover, with the expectation that these models will be available in 2023. The brand also emphasizes the convenience of online purchasing with nationwide delivery options across Russia. These statements come from Alexander Ivanov, who heads Skywell operations in the Russian Federation.
The ET5 makes a strong technical impression with a 204 horsepower electric motor, a battery that carries an eight year warranty, and a stated driving range exceeding 500 kilometers. The vehicle features an extended wheelbase measuring up to 2800 millimeters, creating a spacious interior feel that many compare to the Russian E Neva design language. Inside, buyers can expect thoughtful touches such as a panoramic roof, adaptive headlamps, and advanced driver assists. The car is described as offering Level 2.5 autonomous capabilities, and interior arrangements include seats that can fold flat for sleeping and a camping mode that supplies home electricity via a 220-volt outlet. Fast charging is highlighted, with the ability to reach 80 percent battery capacity in about half an hour. Two trim levels are planned, with announced prices of 4,480,000 and 4,980,000 rubles.
