A study shared with socialbites.ca by VSK Insurance House highlights the leading targets for car thieves in Russia during the first three quarters of 2023. The data shows Hyundai, Kia and Mitsubishi vehicles topping the list in terms of theft frequency.
In detail, the analysis covering January through September 2023 identifies Hyundai as the most stolen brand, accounting for about 31% of all reported car thefts in the period. Kia follows with roughly 24%, and Mitsubishi with around 7%. When looking at specific models, the Kia K5 emerged as the most frequently stolen model, representing about 14% of cases, alongside Hyundai Palisade and Hyundai Santa Fe crossovers. In the premium segment, the Genesis G80 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class were the top targets of thieves. Among Chinese brands, the Chery Tiggo leads theft counts. The report notes that the third quarter alone accounted for 45% of Moscow’s thefts, with the Moscow region and the Samara region each contributing about 10% to the total.
