By year’s end, fourteen of the sixty brands introduced at the outset remained active in the Russian car market.
That finding comes from the Russian Automobile Dealers Association.
The remaining brands include three Russian names — Lada, GAZ, UAZ — while the rest are Chinese. They include Chery, Geely, Haval, JAC, FAW, Dongfeng, Changan, Exeed, GAC, Foton, and Omoda.
“In terms of the national mix (the share of national brands operating in our market), the Russian car market is already 78% Chinese,” the association noted in its communication.
Nearly all European, American, and Korean brands have halted deliveries to Russia.
Meanwhile, in 2022 new brands entered the domestic market, with Moskvich among them making a return.
Despite these shifts, dealers anticipate a substantial reshaping of the Russian car market in 2023.
