In May 2022 the Russian passenger car sector faced a sharp downturn, with only 3.7 thousand vehicles produced. Yet a rebound followed: by June output reached 13.4 thousand, July saw 19.4 thousand, and August rose further to 24.7 thousand cars.
As autumn began, production eased slightly to 23.8 thousand units, before a strong surge in October, when Russian factories combined produced 37.3 thousand cars. Over the year to date, total vehicle assembly in the Russian Federation stood at about 386,000 cars, roughly one third of the level observed a year earlier according to Rosstat data.
By September the Motorinvest plant in Lipetsk region started assembling cars, and by November the Moskvich plant in Moscow joined in. Both facilities employ the SKD method to assemble Chinese cars under Russian brands. Analysts note that new plants contribute to the industry already, though their impact this year is unlikely to be large.
7,000 tires required in popular sizes
Without a steady supply of tires, public programs cannot be fully carried out, and essential medical and protective services may falter.
Together with the Popular Front, the program behind the wheel has begun raising funds to buy tires for vehicles used by the People’s Police and the operational services of the LPR and DPR. The tires will equip ambulances, emergency response units, humanitarian aid convoys, and vehicles used for military logistics. Donations can be made on the collection page. (finmarket.ru)
These efforts aim to ensure mobility for critical services and support the broader operation of emergency and humanitarian missions in the region. The collaboration reflects ongoing coordination between civil groups and state-linked bodies to maintain capacity in difficult conditions. The tire drive illustrates how resource gaps can be addressed through targeted community and organizational support. (finmarket.ru)
