Russia Holds Fifth in European Car Market as Demand Surges in November 2023

The Russian passenger car market held the fifth position in November 2023, according to Autostat.ru, which cited data from national associations of European automakers. The reminder of Europe’s auto market shows a clear hierarchy as Germany continues to lead, followed by the United Kingdom and France, with Italy and Russia completing the top five. Germany reported 245,701 car sales in November, down 5.7 percent versus November 2022 (Autostat.ru). The United Kingdom registered 153,529 sales, up 9.5 percent year over year, while France moved to 152,710 sold, marking a 14 percent increase. Italy concluded the top five with 139,278 units, a rise of 16.2 percent in the month. Russia, at fifth place, posted a substantial surge in demand, with sales rising to 109,706 units by the end of November, more than doubling the year prior (Autostat.ru).
