Russia and Uzbekistan Expand Tourism Collaboration and Highlight New Destinations
In March of this year, Russia and Uzbekistan formalized a cooperative agenda to grow travel between the two nations. The plan outlines practical steps to raise visitor numbers and deepen people-to-people exchanges, with a focus on accessible travel options and mutual support for tourism development.
During the forthcoming Russian travel forum Travel!, set to take place at VDNKh in early August, Uzbekistan will showcase fresh destinations and themed experiences. Attendees can expect emphasis on festivals, culinary adventures, and adventure tourism. The event will also present exclusive offers tailored to students seeking affordable ways to explore Uzbekistan’s rich cultural landscape.
Uzbekistan is recognized as one of the fastest-growing tourism markets globally. The country has simplified visa procedures and introduced electronic visas, making it easier for international visitors to plan trips. This combination of policy ease and compelling experiences has helped Uzbekistan attract a rising number of travelers from Russia and beyond.
At Travel!, organizers note the significance of Uzbekistan as a partner country. Vladimir Zatynaiko, deputy director of the Roscongress Foundation which organizes the Russian tourism forum, emphasized Uzbekistan’s long history, architectural treasures, and continuing popularity among Russian visitors. The forum will offer insights into Uzbek sights, routes, infrastructure, and the culinary offerings of top Uzbek chefs in Tashkent, including pilaf prepared by renowned cooks.
Forum representatives from Uzbekistan will outline plans to entice more tourists to the country. Early announcements include the development of modern water parks and theme parks in Tashkent, together with the opening of new shopping and gastronomic street experiences that showcase Uzbekistan’s contemporary hospitality and design.
Looking ahead, Samarkand remains a key destination for international tourism. It is slated to host a major global forum and will be a focal point for ongoing discussions about sustainable travel and cultural heritage preservation. Other Uzbekistan highlights include Khiva, which has been recognized for its cultural significance and will feature prominently in regional tourism initiatives during 2024.
