Residents in nearby communities can grab fresh tangerines straight from the roadside, as a truck accident on a highway near Chelyabinsk dumped a large load of citrus onto the pavement. The orange flood drew crowds who turned the spill into a spontaneous New Year harvest for locals.

Official reports indicate that, on the afternoon of December 11, 2022, on the M-5 highway, a 28-year-old Volvo truck driver failed to maintain a safe following distance and collided with a KAMAZ parked on the shoulder.

Witnesses noted that the citrus scent carried a long way, filling the air around the scene. The Volvo driver was cited for speeding. Investigators confirmed this was the driver’s 12th violation within a year.

Requires 7,000 tires in popular sizes

Without proper tire safety, public order cannot be guaranteed, and medical teams cannot reach those in need. The program Behind the Wheel, in partnership with the Popular Front, launched a fundraising effort to purchase tires for vehicles used by the People’s Police and humanitarian and emergency services in the LPR and DPR regions, as well as ambulances, emergency response units, and vehicles delivering aid to Donbass residents and military equipment. Donations can be made on the collection page.
