Thanks to a nationwide Safe High-Quality Roads initiative, more than 800 routes connecting major hubs to local attractions have been renovated across regions in three years. In total, about 4,000 kilometers of roadway gained modern standards. Renewal work on tourist corridors will continue this year, with a clear emphasis on domestic travel. Road builders are prioritizing comfort, safety, and reliability so visitors can reach popular destinations with ease and peace of mind.
This year’s plan targets the normalization of roughly 1,700 kilometers of these routes, as stated by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. The goal includes upgrading 345 sections of tourist corridors. A notable example is in the Tver region, where, a month and a half ahead of schedule, the P-132 “Golden Ring” road from Shchekoldino to the Vazuza river, a 15-kilometer stretch, was completed. The route now guides travelers toward the Church of the Sign of the Mother of God by the Osuga river, enriching the experience of visitors who combine scenic drives with cultural stops along the way.
In the Lomonosovsky district of the Leningrad region, repairs on the road to Kolokolnaya Hill restored access to the monument of the unconquered height. This site holds historical significance as the launch point of the Thunder operation during the Great Patriotic War, which began the liberation of Leningrad from the blockade. Meanwhile, in Novorossiysk, Lenin Avenue was brought back to its normal flow, providing a direct route to Aleksino Beach and the local yacht club, supporting both leisure travelers and maritime enthusiasts. Construction continues in the Vladimir region, including the historic towns of Suzdal and Vladimir, where well-preserved visitor routes connect iconic attractions with comfortable, safe travel options for guests arriving to explore these timeless destinations.
