Renault Unveils the Fifth-Generation Espace for Europe
The Renault brand announced the arrival of the fifth generation of the Espace, marking a new chapter for the model. European sales are slated to begin in spring 2023, according to the company press release.
The latest Espace stands out with a shorter and lower silhouette compared to its predecessor, yet the cabin gains livability. With the three-row configuration left in place, the trunk volume has been reduced to a modest 159 liters when all seats are unfolded, a design choice that prioritizes interior comfort and flexible seating layouts.
Under the skin, the Renault Espace rides on the CMF D/C platform, aligning with a modern approach to architecture shared across several Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance models. The powertrain is a hybrid system that combines a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 131 horsepower with two electric motors. The combined output reaches 199 horsepower, offering a balanced blend of efficiency and performance. Official figures indicate a combined fuel consumption of 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers, with acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 8.8 seconds and a top speed of 175 kilometers per hour.
