Details about her, whatever she proved to be, remain elusive. Meanwhile, former Muscovites appear poised to attract broad attention and perhaps even be a sought-after purchase for keen collectors.

We asked ourselves whether it might be possible to locate a Moskvich-2141—or, as it’s sometimes called, the last real Moskvich—in a condition comparable to a factory-new car, and what such a find would cost today.

In an era dominated by all kinds of pristine time capsules, buyers must tread carefully. Yet one advertisement on Avito.ru caught our eye, offering a green forty-first model with surprisingly low mileage. The listing suggested a car that had traveled only a short distance and was kept in remarkable condition.

Drawing conclusions is tricky. The photos imply a vehicle that has undergone careful restoration rather than natural wear, presenting itself as nearly new. The seller claims the car spent time in private collection and is, indeed, in mint condition. The 1998 release marks the final year of that original variant, a last chapter in a storied lineage. It is worth noting that in 1997 a version known as Svyatogor emerged, featuring refined handling, and the forty-first models continued to be produced until 2001. Throughout the years, the car reportedly remained in a single ownership chain and appeared to have seen minimal use. The interior, exterior, and the engine setup derived from the VAZ-2106 era were left untouched, according to the listing’s description.

The asking price is 870,000 rubles. This figure stands out as an intriguing option within a market that also features more expensive, often questionable time-capsule vehicles. On the flip side, more affordable Moskvich-2141s with very few kilometers are still accessible, typically priced between 200,000 and 300,000 rubles for well-preserved examples.

  • Recently, a rare Moskvich-410 with four-wheel drive surfaced on the market.
  • Updates about the vehicle can be followed on Odnoklassniki as a social channel for car enthusiasts.
