On October 26, 2022, from Moscow, where autumn skies were gray and rain lingered, the PROstranstvenie motorcycle rally began. The event, organized by the Eurasian Community of Travel Industry Specialists – ESOT Union and the Rosa Khutor mountain resort, traced a sweeping route from Moscow through Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, and finally to Rosa Khutor near Sochi. The journey was scheduled to unfold through November 1, weaving a path that showcased both the country’s landscapes and its evolving travel infrastructure.
Over the course of the ride, participants explored the breadth of roadside assistance options and the comfort and reliability of regional infrastructure. They evaluated the performance of service providers and local authorities in each region along the route, gaining insight into how well the needs of road travelers are met, and identifying opportunities to improve accessibility and safety on long-distance motorcycle trips. The route was designed not just as a test ride, but as a live laboratory for tourism readiness, hospitality, and regional collaboration.
The Moscow to Rosa Khutor itinerary was framed as more than a ride. It was presented as a chance to deepen knowledge of the nation, to witness historical sites in cities like Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, and Krasnodar, and to connect with the people who keep road travel moving forward. By traversing a corridor that links major urban centers with resort hubs, the rally highlighted how motor tourism can enrich cultural appreciation and regional economies alike.
Victor Kovalenko, vice president of ESOT and co-organizer of the rally, stated that the event seeks to elevate motor tourism as a vibrant form of recreation within Russia. The effort aims to inspire greater interest in exploring the country by motorcycle, while encouraging collaboration among private operators, government bodies, and tourism professionals to enhance safety, convenience, and experience on the road.
In addition to the active participation of riders, the PROstranstvie-2022 rally benefited from the backing of key institutions. Support came from the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism), RST-South, Avtodor – Toll Roads LLC, and Rosneft Oil Company. Informational partners included Za Rulem, Komsomolskaya Pravda, Izvestia, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, and other publications, whose coverage helped share learnings and best practices with a broader audience of travelers and industry professionals. The collaboration underscored a shared commitment to promoting high standards in motor tourism across Russia while showcasing regional strengths and attractions on a national stage.
