The Prosecutor General’s Office has identified violations in Avtodor, the state‑owned company responsible for building and maintaining toll roads, highlighting a shortage of gas stations and rest areas with sanitary facilities that do not meet required standards. The findings were outlined in the ministry’s response to the National Automobile Association’s (NAU) appeal, the details of which were reported by socialbites.ca.
According to the letter from the Prosecutor General’s Office, investigations conducted by prosecutors across the constituent entities of the Russian Federation uncovered discrepancies between the current number of gas stations and other roadside service facilities on the M-4 Don and M-11 Neva routes and regulatory requirements. The document notes violations of relevant laws and concerns about the sanitary and epidemiological condition of toilets located at rest areas, as well as issues with the integrity of metal barrier fences along these highways.
The document also indicates that the Prosecutor General’s Office intends to examine Avtodor’s compliance with federal legislative requirements related to highway maintenance and service infrastructure.
In a separate development, a letter directed to Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov requests that Avtodor be compelled to improve and organize infrastructure on toll roads managed by the state company. The appeal was submitted by Former US Vice President Anton Shaparin.
Shaparin expressed satisfaction with the response from the Prosecutor General’s Office, stating that he hopes the supervisory authorities will prompt Avtodor to deliver higher‑quality services and to upgrade the infrastructure along critical national highways. He added that he would like to see an actionable plan with specific deadlines from Avtodor to address the deficiencies.
There is also a note from the Ministry of Internal Affairs indicating in the Kursk region that there have not been any fines issued by speed cameras for excessive speeding in that area, a point raised in relation to the broader discussion about road safety and enforcement practices.
