In Penza, the regional State traffic inspectorate canceled the fine issued for speeding when a driver was allegedly recorded at almost 100 km/h over the limit by a traffic camera. This information was reported with reference to the regional traffic police department by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, a Penza driver shared on social networks that he faced a speeding penalty even though he believed his speed did not exceed the rules. The Mitsubishi, captured by the Kordon.Pro complex near the first house on Tsentralnaya Street, allegedly registered a speed of 153 km/h in a zone where the limit is 60 km/h.
In the published materials, another vehicle can be seen following the Mitsubishi at a close distance. The driver stated that his appeal via the State Services platform was denied because the video recorder had been verified. Residents of Penza expressed support for the motorist, arguing that such a speed was impossible on that segment of the street. Following a wave of messages on social networks, traffic police decided to revoke the punishment previously issued to the driver. The district attorney’s office later indicated that no complaints about the operation of the camera had been received by their department.
“This case stands out as unusual. The decision to annul the penalty was made, and there were no further appeals,” according to the department’s press service.
Former traffic police officials warned about potential checks in other regions, prompting questions about future enforcement patterns and how drivers can respond if they believe a penalty is unjust.
