In 2024, the rollout of the new Chinese crossover Omoda C7 is planned for the Russian market, according to reports cited by Rossiyskaya Gazeta and supported by statements from Viktor Naschansky, the director overseeing the Omoda and Jaecoo brands. The news signals a strategic push into the C-SUV segment, aiming to broaden the brand’s footprint in eastern markets while exploring expansion opportunities in neighboring regions such as Canada and the United States through regional partnerships and distributor networks.

Naschansky emphasized that a fresh product line will be introduced next year to excite existing customers and attract new buyers. He noted that the Omoda C7 is poised to enter the C-SUV category, expanding the brand’s presence in mid-size crossover offerings. Regarding the smaller Omoda C3, Naschansky stated that the team is assessing both feasibility and market demand to determine whether this model should join the lineup in their market. This careful evaluation reflects a broader strategy to optimize model availability based on regional demand, supply chain dynamics, and regulatory considerations in key markets such as Canada and the United States.

In addition, the plan includes bringing the electric crossover Omoda E5 to the Russian market in the first quarter of next year, with an official debut planned before the end of 2023. The E5 model was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in Qatar and is powered by an electric motor rated at 204 horsepower (approximately 350 Nm of torque). It promises a driving range around 550 kilometers and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in about 7.5 seconds. The introduction of the E5 aligns with a broader European and North American trend toward electrification, resonating with Canadian and American consumers looking for practical, high-efficiency crossovers. The lineup is expected to also include a redesigned version of the C5 crossover, broadening Omoda’s appeal in the compact-to-mid crossover spectrum across regions with growing EV adoption and charging infrastructure development.

Earlier reports mentioned that Kia plans to release a Clavis crossover that would sit below the Seltos in size. This potential entry highlights the competitive landscape in the compact crossover segment and underscores the importance of regional market positioning, pricing strategies, and after-sales support in markets like Canada and the United States where consumer expectations for value, warranty coverage, and service accessibility are high.
