In November, half of all used car sales came from just five brands. Lada continued to lead the secondary market with about 23% of sales, roughly 105.2 thousand units, down 10.4% from the previous year.

The top five brands for the month also included:

  • Toyota with 53.3 thousand units, down 2.9%
  • Hyundai at 25.6 thousand units, down 3.5%
  • Kia with 24.9 thousand units, down 2.2%
  • Nissan at 23.7 thousand units, down 7.9%

Rounding out the top ten were Volkswagen, Chevrolet, Renault, Ford, and Honda. Notably, no Chinese brands appeared in the top ten. Chinese cars still hold a sizable presence in the new car market, close to 30%, which signals that their share is likely to grow in the used car segment in the near future.

Industry experts note a broad downturn among the brands that stood in the November top ten. Chevrolet experienced the sharpest decline, dropping 13.6%. In contrast, Honda reported a positive month with a 5.2% increase in sales.

Among models, Ford Focus, Lada 2114, Hyundai Solaris, Kia Rio, and Lada 2170 were the most popular choices in the used car market.

During the first eleven months of the year, roughly 4.4 million used passenger cars were sold, which marks a year over year decline of 19.7% in the market for pre owned vehicles.

Note: the figures reflect market activity in the Russian used car sector and are based on official press communications consolidated by AUTOSTAT.
