A new facility in Novosibirsk is planned to manufacture trucks with a carrying capacity ranging from 2 to 15 tons. The announcement comes from TASS and confirms that the local group Trend is backing the project, which already has the green light from the regional investment council.
The purpose of the project is to establish a production site in the Novosibirsk region capable of delivering a broad lineup of freight vehicles from two to fifteen tons. Financial projections put the total investment around 20 billion rubles, with funding running through 2030. This long term capital commitment signals a substantial development effort aimed at expanding regional manufacturing capacity and strengthening logistics options in the area, as stated by the company director Konstantin Podshivalov.
Initial production is slated to begin with a five-ton truck model, expected to be unveiled in 2027. The plan aligns with broader regional strategies to enhance transportation infrastructure and support local supply chains by increasing domestic vehicle production and reducing reliance on imports.
In other market news, Bridgestone announced that the sale of its Russian assets to the S8 Capital holding has secured all required regulatory clearances. About one thousand Bridgestone employees are set to transition to the Russian entity as part of the deal. Bridgestone has maintained a presence in Russia since 1998, though it paused production and operations in March of the previous year as part of its global realignment.
Earlier reports suggested that the former Hyundai plant in Russia might be repurposed to assemble up to seventy thousand cars using remaining spare parts.
