State traffic inspectors will be required to log violations detected during covert patrols, including instances where police vehicles operate without a distinctive color scheme. This update was reported by TASS on behalf of the agency.
The State Traffic Inspectorate states that violations contributing to accidents observed during covert patrols must be recorded under the new administrative regulations.
At present, the existing procedure lacks this requirement, according to the document. It notes that covert patrol officers, when they spot traffic rule breaches, will relay information to other patrol cars that carry the color scheme so they can stop violators if needed.
“When a patrol car operates without a color designation, officers are not permitted to compel road users to violate traffic rules, except in emergencies,” the document states. The new inspection procedure will take effect on August 11.
