In Moscow and the surrounding Moscow region, cameras are increasingly catching drivers who operate vehicles without license plates. Reports circulating on the Unlimited Telegram channel, linked to a traffic police resource, describe this trend and the systems deployed to monitor plate compliance.

When a vehicle without plates is detected, the information is automatically relayed to fixed monitoring points or traffic police teams. The notification clearly indicates that driving without a license plate is not a viable option and that inspectors have issued a fine to the driver.

Under current regulations, the new owner of a vehicle is given 10 days to complete registration. Last year the State Traffic Inspectorate clarified that this 10-day window remains valid for vehicles that are new or imported, provided there are documents proving ownership. This rule helps balance practical vehicle transfers with the need to maintain up-to-date registration records.

Previously, the Government of the Moscow Region delegated certain responsibilities to the Home Office to consider cases involving violations related to illegal parking. The fine for illegal parking is set at 1,500 rubles, reflecting the seriousness with which unauthorized parking is treated in the area.

Additionally, a State Duma deputy has proposed reducing the minimum distance required for stopping and parking near public transport stops. Mikhail Chernikov, head of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Russia, explained that such a relaxation could address the concerns of citizens whose vehicles were towed from minibus stops because they did not meet the 15-meter rule. The discussion underscores ongoing efforts to refine parking and stopping standards in busy urban environments.

Earlier reports noted increases in tariffs for the forced evacuation of cars in Moscow, with a rise of about 25 percent. This development highlights the financial impact of tow operations on drivers and the broader considerations of traffic management in the city.
