Several Moscow streets will be temporarily closed or have traffic limited in the sections where a convoy of military equipment is scheduled to pass. The restrictions will apply only in the evening and night hours, so they do not disrupt daytime city traffic.
Freight traffic will also be allowed to move through Moscow without special passes for four days, specifically from April 20 to 21 and from May 10 to 11.
According to a statement from the Moscow Ministry of Transport, on April 20–21 and May 10–11, certain road segments will be blocked to accommodate an equipment column and the parade marking the 77th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. On these dates, truck drivers will be able to travel through Moscow without a pass.
The passes are being suspended because traffic in the city will become more challenging during the preparation period for the celebration and after the Victory Parade. The decision aims to help companies deliver food and goods in a timely manner.
In remarks from Moscow officials, it was noted that traffic in the restricted zones will be difficult to manage. On behalf of the mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, the city will cancel the pass requirement for freight forwarders on these dates. Two days in April and two in May will be available so that truck drivers can choose a time that best fits their operations. The overarching goal is to ensure the continuous and timely delivery of essential food and goods to residents.
