The upcoming film Mission Impossible 7: The Reckoning for Death. Part One has been slated for a 2023 release, and while audiences await the full movie, the trailer has already been circulating. In one sequence, the iconic action star Tom Cruise — famed for performing the majority of his own stunts — rockets along on a motorcycle, vaults off a cliff, and continues the mission without harm to either himself or the bike. The sequence has captivated fans who have finally gotten a clear look at the meticulous preparation behind this daring jump.
The stunt was shot in Norway, where the production team built a massive ramp to launch Cruise’s motorcycle toward the canyon’s edge.
The action star appears in full black attire, speeding with a backpack strapped to his back. He is then shown connected to a safety line while the motorcycle runs on a second line. Moments later, a parachute deploys, guiding his descent with precision.
Before the stunt, Cruise had completed more than 500 skydives and over 13,000 motocross jumps, experiences that informed the control and timing needed for the sequence.
To capture the moment convincingly on camera, a team of specialists developed the optimal gear and determined the exact camera angles so that the illusion would feel absolutely real, while keeping unrelated equipment out of the frame.
Christopher McQuarrie, the film’s writer and director, noted that technological advances have changed what is possible on screen. He added that even with the current capabilities, there remains a question about future installments in the franchise, hinting at Mission Impossible 8 with a touch of optimism.
