Mini Unveils All Electric Fifth Generation Cooper and Countryman
Mini has revealed its latest generation of the Cooper and Countryman, both moving to full electric propulsion. The information comes from the manufacturer’s press office.
The fifth generation Cooper offers two powertrain options. The base version delivers 184 hp with a torque of 290 Nm, while a higher specification makes 218 hp with 330 Nm of torque. The hatchback variation with the lower output can travel up to 305 km on a single charge, whereas the more powerful version extends the range to as much as 402 km. The top configuration accelerates from rest to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.
The new Countryman base model produces 204 hp with 250 Nm of torque. In a more premium variant, all-wheel drive is standard and the power system delivers 313 hp with 494 Nm of torque. This version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Driving range ranges from up to 462 km for front-wheel drive to about 433 km with all-wheel drive.
Inside both models, a single round OLED display with a 240 mm diameter combines the instrument cluster and the infotainment system, with voice control features. The interior updates include a redesigned unit featuring toggle switches for the parking brake, engine start, gear shift, and volume, along with wireless charging for smartphones.
The company also announced that the Mini Aceman crossover will have its premiere in April 2024.
Additionally, a report notes that the Wuling Light compact enters the Russian market, indicating continued expansion in the region.
