The culture of taxi service across major Russian cities reveals distinct patterns in driver courtesy, attention to comfort, vehicle cleanliness, mood, and the choice of in-ride music. In Moscow, Samara, and Kaliningrad, drivers are frequently described as exceptionally polite, while residents and travelers often note a higher degree of meticulousness among drivers in Vladivostok, Kazan, Sochi, and Murmansk.
In contrast, passengers traveling through St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, and Yekaterinburg often report journeys enhanced by pleasant musical selections, contributing to a more enjoyable overall experience. Salon cleanliness also emerges as a key factor for travelers in Sochi, Vladivostok, Kazan, Murmansk, Tyumen, and Krasnoyarsk, where the interior of the taxi is regularly highlighted as a positive point of service.
From February 2022 to February 2023, a review dataset was compiled by the analytical center of the i’way transfer order service to assess customer impressions in Russia’s largest urban centers. The evaluation focused on five criteria used by customers: driver courtesy, journey comfort, car cleanliness, overall mood, and the presence of pleasant music during the ride.
Across the compiled reviews, the top ten cities for service quality emerge as follows, with average scores in parentheses:
Anapa – 4.98, Veliky Novgorod – 4.98, Blagoveshchensk – 4.97, Khanty-Mansiysk – 4.97, Vologda – 4.96, Iwanovo – 4.96, Kaliningrad – 4.96, Khabarovsk – 4.96, Noyabrsk – 4.95, Vladivostok – 4.94. The data indicate regional variation in perceived service quality, with several western and eastern cities performing exceptionally well in customer satisfaction metrics.
Moscow is positioned at 16th place, while St. Petersburg sits at 18th in the same ranking, suggesting that top-perceived service levels are concentrated in a mixed pattern across the nation rather than following a simple north-south or east-west divide.
