The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLC crossover has been unveiled, marking an evolution in size, technology, and capability. In profile, the model grows by 60 millimeters in length and sits 4 millimeters lower than its predecessor, while the overall width remains unchanged. The front track widens by 6 millimeters and the rear track by 23 millimeters, contributing to a slightly broader stance and improved stability. Luggage capacity increases by 50 liters, bringing total cargo space to 600 liters for everyday practicality.
Building on the MRA architecture shared with the Mercedes-Benz C-class sedan, the GLC adopts a four-link front suspension and a multi-link rear setup. An optional Offroad Engineering package broadens its capability, featuring air suspension and protective underbody shielding to tackle challenging terrain with greater confidence.
Among the standout innovations is the optional transparent hood technology. A set of front cameras feeds a live image to the central touchscreen, giving the driver a clearer view of obstacles ahead and under the front wheels. Inside, the GLC offers a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an MBUX multimedia system with a vertical 11.9-inch touchscreen, designed for intuitive control and enhanced information at a glance.
Powertrain options include 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline and diesel engines delivering from 197 to 258 horsepower. The lineup also includes three plug-in hybrid variants with outputs of 313, 335, and 381 horsepower. Every version comes equipped with all-wheel drive, reinforcing the GLC’s balanced performance in varying conditions.
In regional markets, sales of the updated GLC began in late 2022, with the GLC Coupe variant following in a later phase. The model’s introduction reflects Mercedes-Benz’s ongoing emphasis on efficiency, refinement, and technology integration within the compact luxury-SUV segment.
Earlier announcements indicated competitors are pursuing similar redesigns, with Lexus revealing the fifth-generation RX alongside updates to its own crossover lineup. The Mercedes-Benz GLC positions itself as a versatile option for families and professionals seeking practical space, modern connectivity, and capable on- and off-road performance.
