In Makhachkala, a Lada Priora carrying a driver, a coach, and three students overturned into a canal after losing control on the road. Two children sustained serious injuries, and emergency responders rushed to the scene to tend to them. The incident was reported by the Telegram channel Sapa Caucasus, which has been closely tracking local events in Dagestan.

Initial accounts indicate the children, who were part of an MMA training group, were inside the vehicle when it left the roadway and plunged into the canal. The car sank quickly, but the driver and a 14-year-old passenger managed to escape. Bystanders and witnesses pulled two more victims, aged 10 and 12, from the submerged vehicle, aiding in the immediate response before medical teams arrived.

Medical officials reported that the two injured children remained in critical condition and were connected to life-sustaining equipment at the hospital. The Dagestan Ministry of Health later confirmed that the hospital has the necessary resources to provide ongoing care for these patients during the critical period following the accident.

The crash occurred around 08:30 on a Sunday, according to updates from the Republic State Traffic Safety Inspectorate. Road safety authorities stated that the 23-year-old driver of the Lada Priora lost control and veered toward the October Revolution Canal, resulting in the vehicle leaving the road and entering the water. Investigators are examining the factors that contributed to the loss of control and are coordinating with emergency services to determine any additional safety implications.

Separately, authorities noted a separate incident in Novosibirsk where a Mercedes driver collided with four vehicles, though the two events are not believed to be related. Investigations into both accidents are ongoing, and authorities have urged drivers to exercise extra caution on rural and canal-adjacent routes, especially during adverse weather or early morning hours when visibility can be limited.
