AvtoVAZ representatives acknowledge a lack of clarity about how the new Lada Vesta vehicles are equipped within the garage of State Duma members. Questions concerning the specifications and features of cars assigned to parliamentarians are being directed back to the State D Duma for official clarification, as noted by the company in communications with the press.
When asked about the matter, AvtoVAZ’s press service advised contacting the Duma’s press office for definitive information. This response came amid public curiosity about the exact configurations and capabilities of the vehicles used by lawmakers.
Oleg Leonov, a deputy from the New People faction, highlighted the importance of prompt information disclosure. Speaking after filming inside a Lada Vesta, he described the car as a solid vehicle with a well-appointed interior, calling it a “great car” and praising what he termed a “pretty good interior.” His remarks were shared in a video produced from inside the vehicle and circulated to demonstrate the model’s quality to a broader audience.
Alexander Tolmachev, a member of the Duma Committee on Transport, weighed in on the broader issue of digital services and vehicle technology. He criticized the choice of systems by manufacturers that disconnect vehicles from remote services, arguing that such moves diminish the customer experience and reliability. Tolmachev suggested that deploying the Lada Vesta in the Duma fleet could elevate the perceived status of Russian automobiles, framing the model as a practical, utility-oriented choice for public use rather than a premium or luxury option.
In a related policy context, the State Duma previously opposed the use of older spare parts in repairs funded under OSAGO, underscoring the body’s emphasis on modern parts and up-to-date vehicle maintenance. This stance reflects broader concerns about safety, compliance, and consistency across the government fleet.
