Lada Vesta, 1.6 (106 hp), R5
Manufacturer – AVTOVAZ. Year of issue — 2015. In operation “Behind the wheel” – since December 2015. Mileage at time of report – 122,500 km.
Eighteen months ago the emergency oil pressure lamp lit up abruptly while the Vesta was idling after starting the engine. A quick nudge of a wire and the warning disappeared. The issue seemed to be a loose contact or a chip position problem, and the symptom did not reappear for a long time after that quick fix.
Last winter the malfunction resurfaced, but with a different behavior. The indicator flickered very briefly during acceleration in the 2000–3000 rpm range. At idle or during off-throttle operation, there were moments of light activity that did not persist. Measurements showed normal oil pressure. Replacing the sensor and cleaning associated components did not resolve the problem. The team concluded that the fault likely lay in the wiring harness, a task that would be lengthy and meticulous to diagnose and repair.
The news about the Vesta’s overall reliability has proved favorable. The model shows no serious design flaws or a flood of initial teething troubles. In terms of suspension, this car is competitive within its segment, delivering a balanced mix of ride comfort and dynamic capability. It handles confidently on standard street surfaces and even with low-profile 17-inch tires. The editorial vehicle has not required significant chassis investments thus far. Compared with some peers in the class, the Vesta offers a smoother ride without sacrificing steering feedback, though compact rivals may feel subtly more precise in steering feel. Overall, the car strikes a sensible balance between comfort, robustness, and handling dynamics.
