The planned price rise for Lada cars in 2023 is expected to stay well below the pace of overall inflation, according to Maxim Sokolov, president of AvtoVAZ. This view aligns with the data the company has so far recorded and reflects a cautious approach to pricing amid varying macroeconomic signals. In practice, this means customers may see more gradual increases rather than sharp jumps, while the brand continues to balance demand with production costs and market competition. AvtoVAZ remains focused on maintaining affordability for its core buyers while pursuing strategic growth through planned product updates and export opportunities.

The Bank of Russia projects inflation to run around 5-7 percent next year, with the Ministry of Economic Development estimating it near 5.5 percent. These forecasts influence corporate pricing strategies across industries, including automotive, as manufacturers weigh input costs, currency dynamics, and consumer purchasing power. The company has repeatedly emphasized that its pricing logic considers multiple macroeconomic scenarios rather than following a single, fixed trajectory.

“Up to now, the assumption has been that price growth would lag behind inflation, and forecasts for inflation have become less frequent and less precise,” Sokolov noted in response to questions about 2023 prices. The statement underlines AvtoVAZ’s intent to keep price movements manageable for buyers while navigating challenges such as exchange rate volatility, component supply, and energy costs. The automaker already operates three production sites: in Togliatti, Izhevsk, and St. Petersburg, the latter occupying a facility formerly used by Nissan.

Today the Lada brand comprises four model families: Vesta, Largus, Granta, and Niva. In 2023, the lineup will grow with three additional models that will occupy the non-budget segments in classes C and D. Negotiations with Chinese colleagues are underway to develop these new vehicles, reflecting AvtoVAZ’s broader strategy to broaden its appeal across different price tiers while leveraging international partnerships to accelerate development and scale.
