Independent reports indicate that the issue resurfaced at the end of last year: there are no electric power steering units for the Lada Granta, along with several other essential components. AVTOVAZ faced challenges with incomplete vehicles in December and began gathering them back into its internal facilities. On January 12 the shortage forced workers involved in assembling the Granta to leave early for the day.

Officials provided context on the spare parts shortage at AVTOVAZ with this statement: the factory remains on its planned production schedule, and the newly appearing shortages are being monitored closely in manual mode and addressed as they arise, according to Sergey Ilyinsky, the communications director, in a Za Rulem interview.

Hints from industry insiders indirectly corroborated the situation: on Friday, January 13, the assembly line for Lada Granta vehicles resumed. Yet multiple signs point to ongoing component constraints on the VAZ production line, indicating that the supply of critical parts continues to pose difficulties for the plant.
