According to a statement released by the ministry, the incident occurred around 7:00 pm on May 21 at the intersection of Radishchev Street and Morozov Pavel Leontievich Street. The report notes that the Prius driver lost control while approaching pedestrians who were standing near the curb, and the vehicle swung from its path as it continued forward. This sequence of movements led to a direct collision with individuals who were on the side of the road, ultimately affecting multiple people in the vicinity of the crosswalk.
The aftermath of the collision was severe. A woman who had been struck by the vehicle later died en route to medical care in an ambulance, according to the authorities. Surveillance footage from a nearby security camera captured the moment of impact: a silver-colored minibus appears to turn left, while the black Prius traveling straight proceeds into the area where pedestrians were gathered. The car then loses control and strikes road barriers before stopping.
