A local resident reported that a Volkswagen car broken down on a road in the Kaliningrad region was stolen. The thief allegedly repaired the damaged vehicle and used a Telegram channel run by the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs to publicly note the incident.
The incident occurred in the village of Lvovskoye. The owner explained to police that the car could not be repaired or towed at the scene, so the vehicle was left on the roadside. When morning came, the car was missing and later located on a rural road near the village.
During follow up operations, officers detained a 33 year old local resident who had no prior criminal record. In the police statement, the suspect claimed he managed to fix the car and spent some time moving around the village and nearby areas before the vehicle broke down again.
After the Volkswagen ultimately ceased to function, the suspect abandoned it. A theft case was opened, and the man faces potential imprisonment for up to five years depending on the findings of the investigation.
Earlier, another vehicle story involved a crane-equipped motor unit in Tatarstan that collapsed on a bus at an intersection, illustrating ongoing concerns about vehicle safety and theft in the region.
