The Kaliningrad Avtotor plant, which consolidates Hyundai and Kia production for the Russian market, has received a batch of parts that will enable limited operation in a reduced capacity during July and August. This update comes from TASS reporting.
Officials indicated that, along with the parts, Avtotor’s management is taking steps to keep workers engaged, which should help mitigate layoffs and keep the assembly line moving at a lower tempo through the middle of summer. However, they emphasized that the production volume remains constrained, making it premature to declare a full return to normal operations.
Earlier in May, the plant put most staff on three weeks of company leave. In addition, at the start of May, the company allocated plots of ten acres each for employee gardens. In total, about three hundred hectares were designated for these agricultural spaces, a move aimed at supporting staff welfare during the pause in production.
