A company executive discussed the hurdles tied to imported components and the ongoing mission to elevate quality even when conditions are tough. He explained that during component replacements, the goal is not to let any property or performance of the product slip. Instead, the team continually enhances the characteristics of the items they manufacture. This careful emphasis on improvement, while admirable, tends to push vehicle costs upward, making domestically produced goods more expensive than their foreign counterparts.

The speaker noted that only new state programs designed to motivate component suppliers and manufacturers can shift this balance. Work on import substitution is already advancing — a concrete example is the KAMAZ-6282 electric bus, where some imported components have been swapped for the latest Russian developments, while others have been replaced by analogues from friendly countries.

Requires 7,000 tires in popular sizes

Reliable tire supply is essential for public safety and service delivery. Without properly secured tires, public order cannot be maintained and medical assistance cannot reach everyone in need.

In collaboration with a civic initiative, funds are being gathered to purchase tires for vehicles used by the People’s Police and operational services in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, including ambulances, emergency response units, humanitarian aid vehicles, and other essential equipment. Contributions can be made through the collection page managed by the initiative.

Note: information drawn from official communications of KamAZ and related program announcements has been incorporated to reflect current efforts in sourcing and substitution for critical components.
