In Krasnoyarsk, authorities say a man tried to burn the car of the former head of the state fire service after a confusing mix-up involving his ex-girlfriend and a new acquaintance. The information comes from the Telegram channel Kras Mash, which has been tracking the incident.
During the January holidays, the man had been drinking and noticed a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV parked in a yard. He approached the vehicle, shattered its window, and entered the cabin. Inside, he set papers on the couch on fire and then fled the scene. The flames engulfed the SUV, causing extensive damage. Two other nearby cars sustained damage as well, reportedly from the blaze spreading or the flames reaching them.
Later reports clarified that the arsonist had mistaken the targeted car for the vehicle belonging to his ex-girlfriend’s new partner. The total damage was estimated at 4.2 million rubles. The man was apprehended and placed under house arrest as the investigation continued.
