The German automaker Volkswagen unveiled a fresh concept called the ID.2all. The brand confirmed through its press office that a production hatchback based on this prototype is planned for release in 2025.
Measuring 4050 millimeters in length, 1812 millimeters in width, and 1530 millimeters in height, the vehicle rides on a 2600 millimeter wheelbase. It follows the MEB Entry modular platform, the same architecture used for an earlier ID concept. In terms of design, the car carries a clear visual link to the familiar Volkswagen Golf lineup. Inside, the cabin features a three-spoke steering wheel and a tablet mounted behind it that serves as the digital instrument display. The center console houses a large media system screen, creating a modern and streamlined cockpit.
The ID.2all concept is powered by a 226 horsepower electric motor. Its lithium-ion battery provides a driving range of up to 450 kilometers and supports fast charging, enabling a 10 to 80 percent charge in about 20 minutes under suitable conditions. This combination aims to offer everyday usability with spirited performance, aligning with Volkswagen’s push toward accessible electric mobility for a broad audience. The interior layout emphasizes simplicity and practicality, while the exterior maintains a compact silhouette suitable for urban environments and family use. The official communication from Volkswagen highlights the balance between efficiency, affordability, and contemporary technology, signaling a new chapter for compact EVs. Earlier announcements noted that the Moskvich factory indicated plans to introduce two fresh models by the end of 2023, signaling a broader shift in regional production strategies. While those plans reflect a separate strategic path, Volkswagen’s ID.2all demonstrates a parallel focus on compact electric transport for everyday drivers, with a clear emphasis on cost efficiency and practical range. This combination positions the model as a potential mainstream option for compact EV buyers in North American markets, subject to regional regulatory and market considerations.
