A study by Rabota.ru and SberAvto, an online car buying service, explored how much time parents spend getting their kids to school and whether that time affects their work schedules.

According to the survey, 55% of children travel to school on foot, and 20% are driven to their study location by a parent in a private car. Another 19% rely on public transportation, with 5% having children travel either alone or with assistance from public transit. Some families use taxi services to bring their children to school.

A large share of parents—67%—spend under 30 minutes escorting their child to school. About one third of respondents reported that the commute lasts between 30 minutes and one hour. A small portion, 2%, indicated that the trip to school takes one to two hours.

In terms of impact on the work day, 21% of parents need to wake up earlier to ensure the child reaches school and the day at work begins on time. On the other hand, 58% say the school routine does not affect their work or schedule in any way. A smaller group, 9%, found a job with a flexible schedule due to school commitments, while 6% adjusted their schedule at various times during the school year.

The study was conducted in August 2022 and surveyed 1,000 parents aged 18 and older.
