During the June and July period, new car prices in Russia averaged around 2.3 million rubles, according to SberAvto analysts. This marks a dip from May, when the average stood at about 2.43 million rubles. The decline wasn’t limited to new cars; the typical spend on used vehicles also eased. In May, the average used-car transaction was roughly 1.15 million rubles, and by the end of July it settled near 1.1 million rubles, reflecting a slow but steady cooling over the two summer months.

Looking at the used-car market through the service, the Kia Rio emerged as the most affordable option with about 360 thousand rubles on the odometer, while a late-model 2020 Range Rover Sport topped the price chart at around 6 million rubles. For new Chinese models, May highlighted the EXEED VX at about 4.2 million rubles as the priciest on offer, whereas a budget-friendly used choice with mileage was the Ford Focus at roughly 371 thousand rubles. These figures illustrate a wide spread in price and configuration across segments in the current market.

SberAuto experts advise buyers to broaden their geographic search beyond their immediate region. Expanding the search radius can uncover options that offer greater value, better equipment, or more favorable configurations. This approach is particularly advantageous for used cars, where regional availability and depreciation play pivotal roles. In addition, shoppers should consider less popular, non-mainstream models, since demand for these vehicles often lags behind the top-ten crowd, potentially yielding better bargains. Chinese brands also deserve attention, as a larger market presence tends to translate into easier maintenance and readily available components, reducing long-term ownership friction and reinforcing total ownership cost attractiveness.
