Haval led the way in Russia for foreign-brand car sales, according to Avtostat data referenced by Passport Industrial Consulting. The robust performance underscores a strong market reception for the brand among international manufacturers operating in the country.
In October 2023, Haval dealers moved 12.8 thousand vehicles, a figure that marks a threefold rise compared with the same month a year earlier. Chery claimed the second spot with 10.9 thousand cars sold, reflecting a 2.8x year-over-year increase. Over the first ten months of 2023, roughly 82 thousand Haval crossovers and SUVs found buyers in Russia, representing a 3.2 times surge versus the prior year’s same period.
The Jolion compact crossover held the top position in October, with sales of 6.3 thousand units, up 2.1x from the previous year. In second place was the Dargo mid-size crossover, achieving 2 thousand sales, an impressive 8.8x increase, followed by the M6 mid-size crossover, which sold 1.8 thousand units. The trajectory suggests a growing consumer interest in Haval’s SUV lineup as demand expands across major Russian regions.
Industry observers note that Haval’s strengthened position occurred prior to the launch of the updated F7 in Russia, a move that potentially broadens the brand’s appeal with refined design and improved features. Market dynamics during this period reflected a shift toward affordable, well-equipped SUVs among Russian buyers, with Haval successfully capitalizing on this trend and expanding its footprint in the competitive foreign segment.
