Earlier reports indicated that the simplified assembly line for Lada Granta sedans started on May 8 at AvtoVAZ’s factory in Togliatti. It is known that these cars will feature the low-emission VAZ-11182 engine, and they will not include ABS or ERA-GLONASS systems. It should be noted that this information is preliminary and unofficial; the manufacturer plans to share full equipment details for the cars at a later date.

The car was assembled during the first shift with a target of 68 commercial vehicles, according to Avtograd News. The modest initial batch reflects adjustments to the production process and the associated reconfiguration of assembly-line personnel. The producer notes that the overall output is expected to rise in the coming days, while discussions continue about continuing evening shifts on the line.

The same source also mentions that shipments of painted bodies and kits for the “anti-crisis” Granta have already begun to two additional assembly sites — Lada Sport in Togliatti, which makes the Granta Drive Active variant, and ChechenAvto in the city of Argun. The planned total output for these two locations in June is 452 commercial vehicles, the source confirms.

  • Granta, Niva, and Largus are also considered for early reintroduction in production, with XRAY and Vesta facing ongoing production challenges, while AVTOVAZ has signaled a shift away from Renault models.
  • New episodes of Behind the Wheel are now available on RuTube.
