AvtoVAZ Launches Granta Classic 22: A More Affordable Localized Upgrade
After a period of downtime, AvtoVAZ confirmed a restart in car production with an official statement from its press service. The first Granta Classic 2022 model year has rolled off the assembly line, marking a new entry in the brand’s lineup. The company emphasizes that this modification is aimed at offering the most affordable passenger car in the Russian market, achieved through a strong emphasis on localization to reduce dependence on imported components and to mitigate supply chain interruptions.
Compared with the standard LADA Granta Classic, the Granta Classic 22 configuration introduces changes designed to boost design and comfort features that were previously exclusive to higher trims. These upgrades include painted door trims, heated and electric mirrors, and optional 15-inch alloy wheels, as stated by AvtoVAZ.
In addition, the package includes:
- electric power steering
- electric windows on the front doors
- ISOFIX child seat mounting points
- daytime running lights
- on-board computer
- central locking
- audio preparation with four speakers
- steel 14-inch rims with decorative caps
Classic 22 will be available across all Granta variants. A fresh image from the Togliatti conveyor shows a station wagon in the foreground, followed by cars of other body styles, illustrating the model lineup expansion.
Manufacturers note that the Granta Classic 22 is equipped with a 90 horsepower engine paired with a manual transmission. The sedan maintains the option for transformation, and no changes were made to the chassis that would alter handling characteristics. The Classic 22 configuration will be offered for the entire Granta family, including sedan, liftback, and estate bodies, as well as the Drive Active sport version. Price information is expected to be announced soon.
