Geely Unveils a New Electric Platform Shaping LEVC’s Global Mobility Strategy

Geely, the Chinese automaker that owns the British taxi manufacturer LEVC, has introduced a fresh electric platform that will underpin the next generation of the car family. The announcement was shared on LEVC’s official site, signaling a strategic shift toward all‑electric mobility solutions.

LEVC stated that the company is evolving from a top‑tier taxi producer into a global supplier of fully electric mobility options. The transformation aims to position LEVC as a comprehensive provider of electric transport solutions across markets worldwide.

The modular SOA platform has been developed with collaboration across research centers in China, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The project spanned 2.5 years and is designed to maximize interior space within vehicles. The platform is built to support a diverse lineup, including pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles, and campers, enabling a broad range of body styles to ride on a common architectural base.

In terms of power and range, the platform will offer a variety of traction batteries. Vehicle options will cover capacities from 73 kWh to 120 kWh, delivering a cruising range of up to 695 kilometers on a single charge, depending on configuration and driving conditions. This battery strategy provides flexibility for different markets and use cases, from urban taxis to long‑haul capable electric vehicles.

Earlier information indicated interest in emerging markets, including Russia, where there were plans for the Chinese crossover Livan X3 Pro. While details are evolving, the focus remains on scaling electric platforms that can be adapted to multiple regions and customer requirements across Canada, the United States, and beyond. These moves align with a broader industry trend toward standardized, scalable electric architectures that shorten development cycles and reduce costs while expanding serviceable range and capabilities for electric fleets.
