Geely Monjaro Reaches Top Three Among Foreign Cars in Russia

The Geely Monjaro crossover has entered a notable sales tier in Russia, ranking among the top three foreign models in the market for the first time. This assessment comes from data provided by the analytical agency Avtostat, referencing information from JSC Passport Industrial Consulting.

During the 42nd calendar week of the year, spanning from October 16 to 22, Geely sold 881 Monjaro crossovers in the Russian Federation. The sales leaders for that week were the Haval Jolion with 1,537 units and the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro with 941 units. The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max followed closely in fourth place with 856 units, while the Omoda C5 captured fifth with 800 units.

Industry observers note that 18.2 thousand foreign cars were sold in Russia in that week, representing about two thirds of the total new passenger car registrations in the country, a proportion of 66.3 percent. This snapshot illustrates how foreign brands have continued to hold a significant portion of the marketplace even as local demand and competition evolve.

Geely began official sales of the Monjaro in Russia in April of the current year. The model is equipped with a two liter turbocharged engine delivering 238 horsepower, paired with an eight speed automatic transmission and a continuous all wheel drive system. Among Geely offerings in Russia, the Monjaro stands as the most expensive model in the lineup, with the base version starting at 4.7 million rubles.

Russian showrooms feature the Monjaro within a growing segment of midsize, family orientated SUVs, appealing to buyers seeking a blend of performance, comfort, and value. The model has been positioned to attract buyers who value turbocharged power and advanced drivetrain configurations, while maintaining a competitive price point in the premium segment of the brand’s portfolio.

As the market shifts, buyers in Russia and neighboring markets may increasingly compare the Monjaro against other international offerings that emphasize space, versatility, and modern connectivity. The ongoing sales results through the autumn period will likely influence Geely’s broader regional strategy and pricing in the Russian market, as well as potential adjustments for Canadian and U S buyers looking at similar crossovers from the global Geely lineup.
