Moskvich Unveils Gas-Driven Configuration at SPIGF
The Moskvich automobile plant announced an automotive milestone at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum: a vehicle equipped with gas cylinder technology was shown to attendees, signaling a strategic move toward alternative fuel options. During an open-air exhibition held within the SPIGF program, the Moskvich 6 sedan was showcased with integrated gas equipment. Visitors were invited to examine the setup up close, gaining a firsthand look at how the system integrates with the base vehicle. The company noted that the presentation aimed to illustrate real-world compatibility and ease of use for consumers considering LPG solutions.
Under a framework agreement between the Moskvich factory and Gazprom Gas Engine Fuel, there are plans to produce cars featuring LPG gas cylinder equipment. The collaboration envisions equipping not only the Moskvich 6, but also the Moskvich 3 crossover, broadening access to dual-fuel configurations across different model lines.
The dual-fuel Moskvich 6, introduced in St. Petersburg, is powered by a 1.5-liter engine delivering 104 horsepower. The installation of gas technology is designed to complement the existing powertrain without compromising performance or reliability, while offering motorists a viable alternative to traditional fuel options.
