A former traffic police officer from the Leningrad region faced a state revenue review after authorities found that several properties linked to him had grown beyond what his official earnings could justify.

Between 2014 and 2019, the former employee of the UGIBDD of the St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region invested in housing developments on his land in Sertolovo. The portfolio included a residence, a garage, and the beginnings of a second house. Investigators highlighted that the combined value of these projects surpassed the official income earned through his service, as well as potential proceeds from selling other assets previously owned by the officer.

Initial court decisions treated the earnings from construction of the two newer structures as legitimate. Consequently, the court ordered only the unfinished house to be repurchased. However, a prosecutor’s challenge in the Leningrad Region led to a reversal of that outcome. The court subsequently ruled that all three properties should be withdrawn, reflecting a broader assessment of the officer’s financial profile and the sources of the funds used for construction.

The ruling has been finalized, and its enforcement is monitored directly by the district prosecutor, Sergei Zhukovsky, according to the prosecutor’s office. The development underscores ongoing attention from authorities to the disproportion between published income and real estate holdings in cases involving public servants or former civil employees.

In related recent proceedings within the region, other cases have drawn public interest. For example, earlier reports noted that in a separate matter involving traffic police inspectors, a jury acquitted after a dispute over a driver’s arm injury, illustrating the varied outcomes that emerge from enforcement actions and court deliberations in the domain of public safety and administrative regulation.
