Officials from the Rostov region government confirmed on the official portal that additional cameras have been installed along the M-4 Don track. A total of five new complexes have been integrated into the regional traffic monitoring system. Four of these are positioned on heavily traveled sections of the highway, precisely where traffic swells as travelers head toward coastal cities during the summer season. The deployment aims to enhance safety, improve speed management, and support enforcement with more consistent data collection across peak travel times, a move that regional authorities say benefits both local residents and visitors alike. Information about all installed complexes is now consolidated in the centralized software platform SPO Web, providing a unified view of operation and performance for transportation authorities and the public. This consolidation helps ensure that traffic patterns, incident responses, and enforcement actions are tracked efficiently in one place.
New complexes are located:
- in the same direction at kilometer point 937 plus 45 with a speed limit of 70 km/h, a stretch noted for heavy summer traffic as vehicles move toward popular coastal destinations;
- in the passing and opposite direction at kilometer point 1070 plus 749 with a speed limit of 90 km/h, a section that typically experiences rapid changes in flow during traffic surges;
- in the opposite direction at kilometer point 1031 plus 135 with a speed limit of 110 km/h, a segment where high speeds are common and enforcement coverage is strengthened;
- in the opposite direction at kilometer point 1031 plus 140 with a speed limit of 110 km/h, another high-speed stretch where monitoring supports driver safety and compliance.
The regional transport authority shared statistics on the performance of previously installed complexes for the first half of the year, including the lead-in to the holiday period. The report notes that motorists received a total of 1,009.7 thousand administrative violation resolutions during this timeframe, resulting in fines totaling 601.4 million rubles. About 80 percent of these fines have been paid to date, reflecting a strong level of compliance and revenue collection that supports ongoing road safety initiatives. In discussing the data, officials emphasized that the expanded camera network, along with the centralized SPO Web reporting, enables more timely and accurate enforcement decisions, which can deter risky driving behaviors and reduce the likelihood of serious accidents during peak travel periods. For residents who need quick updates, the term Driving can be read in Viber, a messaging option that some drivers use to stay informed about traffic conditions and enforcement activity in real time.
