Recent data from the Analytical Manual of the Traffic Police of Russia for 2022, as cited by Gazeta.Ru, reveals that 35% of drunk driving incidents involve drivers aged 30 to 39. The age bracket of 40 to 44 also appears notably represented in these statistics. Yet, there is a clear trend: as drivers grow older beyond a certain point, the share of intoxicated driving within that age group tends to decline. This pattern suggests age-related differences in risk exposure, driving habits, and perhaps changes in responsibility or lifestyle choices that influence the likelihood of combining alcohol with driving.

When examining the educational background of those involved in alcohol-related crashes, the data show a concentration around individuals with secondary or specialized secondary education. In 2021, this group accounted for 13.3 thousand cases, representing about 81% of the total identified incidents. By contrast, those with higher education were involved in a smaller share, numbering around 1.8 thousand cases. These figures highlight a potential correlation between educational attainment and the propensity to drive after drinking, though they do not establish causation and must be interpreted in the context of broader demographic patterns.

Interestingly, the analysis notes that none of the recorded accidents were attributed to individuals possessing an academic degree while intoxicated. While this observation should be considered cautiously, it raises questions about how education level intersects with risk awareness, traffic safety practices, and adherence to legal prohibitions against driving under the influence.

Further insights show that 54% of drunk traffic crashes involved married drivers. Additionally, a notable share of these offenders, 74%, had prior administrative penalties for other traffic offenses. These correlations may reflect the social and behavioral factors that accompany marital status and a history of traffic violations, underscoring the cumulative nature of risk in road safety contexts.
