The 2022 decision on whether to renew driving license rights was reached in April. Drivers whose documents have expired should not rush to the traffic police. Replacing the certificate can be postponed until 2025.
Nevertheless, this statement carries caveats. It was disclosed by Maria Spiridonova, a member of the Russian Bar Association, in an interview with Prime Agency. The specialist warned that waiting until the end of the permitted period could lead to lengthy queues. In 2025, the number of people seeking to replace their licenses is expected to rise, increasing waiting times and congestion at offices.
There is no need to delay indefinitely. Directors were advised to replace their entitlements before the expiration date. The expert explained that there are no legal penalties for doing so early. Regardless of when the owner applies for a new document—whether now or three years from now—the license will remain valid for ten years.
